"Myst" is a great young mare who was an exceptional race horse until she was retired at age six. She won the 2003 Shanandoah Belmont Stakes, as well as several other Graded Stakes races and she was a very consistant performer, nearly always in the top three. She is one of my favorite SIM horses, as I created her sire and dam! She was also my very first horse to win a jewel of the Triple Crown! Currently I am working on recovering her race record, as it is rather spotty at the moment. Look for updates as I go through my old hard-copy files!
Myst was a successful money earner on the track, as well as bringing home some exceptional wins, including the 2003 Belmont Stakes and several other Graded Stakes wins. She won or placed over many distances and surfaces, and beat the colts more than once! Her courage is legendary around the barn; no horse in my stable is as gutsy in the last strides down to the wire. She is not the fastest horse in the stable, but she certainly has more 'try' than most and can outperform horses who are much faster. However, she does have a lot of staying power, which is evidenced by her Belmont win. She is one of the finest horses in our stable, along with Natural Element and Alottasmoke.
She has been showing since she was retired in December of 2005, mainly in halter, hunter and jumper classses, with a few dressage classes mixed in for good measure. For the past several years she has been shown almost exculsively in jumper classes, where she has done very well. She has an impressive record during her show career and probably won't show much longer before her retirement. When she is completely retired from showing, she will continue to be a broodmare, where she has already proven herself with her 2007 foal winning a jewel of the Triple Crown! We have high hopes for her other foals as well!
